EXCELLENT! Wow, you have progressed from the days of the tune stick… I also like what you did in post-processing, a reverb-environment I’d guess, as it sounds like you are playing in a gothic cathedral. Very nice, and it gives me something to try….

One of things I disliked most about Scruggs-style was having to wear finger picks. It is SOOOO nice not to have to carry around another piece of gear – just pick up the instument and go! Be sure and experiment with different nail lengths. I’ve found that if my nail comes JUST to the end of my finger it works best for me (with nail held…[Read more]

maybe I’m dense, but I don’t see a signin link in the Kitchen Pickin forum. How do you envision that forum being distinct from this one? What do you want posted here or there? How is a forum different than a group?

Very good. The fretless is perfect for that one. Sliding into G on the 1st string is quite effective, as is the A to B on the 3rd string. Great job!

Good job! I liked the instruction at the end; good idea. Remember, as long as you keep the rhythm going, you can play just about any note, and it won’t sound like an obvious mistake – just your unique way of playing! Any fluctuation in the rhythm is going to be noticed…

great job! It sounded like you were channeling Johnny Cash! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQpdoriVG6I) Great job on finding the melody notes and accenting them in your break. You’ve really progressed. Congrats.

I noticed that you were playing C capo 2. As a good exercise, take the capo off and play in D. You’ll sing the same, but…[Read more]

Troy, thanks. So I gather that you are not routinely playing the 5th string nor strumming. I think that the action of your right hand DA dit DA dit DA dit DA has the accent on one, rest on two, light strike on three. This gives the feeling of a pickup note to the downbeat of the measure, with the measure played in one (musical slang.)
