Guitar Bandits 4 months, 2 weeks agoHere’s a tutorial video where I talk about similarities between frailing banjo and Carter style guitar melody.
-
hey tim. i was just thinking more about this. bum ditty is essentially the same thing as a bass note plus a down-up strum. i wonder if you could take any frailing tab and directly transpose it to guitar. i’m not at home right now to try but i just had a look at boil them cabbage down in C and it seems like the whole thing can be played with…[Read more]

Yes. This is the idea. And you’ll see Boil them cabbage works exactly like you said. You can play hammer-ons to liven it up a little. The songs in G will transfer really well too because the treble strings are basically tuned the same way.
-
yup. boil them cabbage down worked perfectly. i’m gonna work on your jesse james arrangement. sounded great.

Guitar Bandits 5 months agoHi everyone. Sorry I’ve been absent for a while. I’m under a lot of real world stress with getting ready for some big life changes. I was catching up on some Walking Dead episodes today and wanted to sing this Dylan song. Click on the link to go to sound cloud and listen.

Guitar Bandits 5 months, 2 weeks agoI’ve been spending (almost) all of my music time lately practicing memorized fiddle tunes with a metronome playing slowly. It’s just an experiment that I’m doing. I want to know for myself what the benefit will be.

Guitar Bandits 6 months agoSo, … got a guitar now so had to post here!! .. I just found it too hard to record the banjo and strum guitar in time, so Bev helped me with a bit of singing instead for this video, .. just for fun!

BILL AND BEV – BRAVO !!!!!!
Loved that. Looks like lots of fun!
-
Yep, making music is fun!! and just what your site is all about!
…. (Got to get Bev helping more I think!!)-
I agree Bill – this site is FUN and you do need to get Bev joining in the fun more! Smiles are the best medicine in the world

Is Bev a comedian? The way she sort of creeps into the screen is hilarious.
-
Ain’t she funny, … think she’s going as daft as me, Haha!
-
-
great stuff. is that some sort of frailing strum you are doing?
-
Hi Joel, yes I pick down like frailing then pick up with my index finger, … it’s one of Mandy’s strums that she first did with her Wagonwheel video, so many thanks to Mandy for the technique, .. I though it sounded cool , it sometimes throws me as I tend to mix it up with frailing, .. doesn’t matter though as it sounds ok.
